Why I'm Running

I have struggled with local government on many issues in our neighborhood – overnight camping, graffiti, drugs, parking problems, and crime committed by people camping overnight in front of our house, and many other issues that my neighbors took-on both singularly and together. I got more involved in government and started regularly attending City Council meetings over Measure N, when I saw the negative impact it was going to have on my elderly neighbors. I started a non-partisan “No on Measure N” group and helped defeat the tax. Over the years, I have seen how the decisions of local city government affect our daily life in such a small town. I have tried to offer my help and ideas along the way.

In a time when costs are rising, city services, permitting costs and fees need to be reasonable. Residents and landlords should be encouraged to repair and modernize their homes. The cost of permitting should not be a barrier to improvements.

City government needs to collaboratively work with local businesses to improve the economy to help pay for roads and services.

This is a time when the City needs professional, trusted city government. I have a strong background in working with city government and community groups. I would bring the focus back to providing core city services – safety, fire prevention, roads and utilities, while working with small businesses to grow the economy. I know what it is like to need help from the city. I intend to provide a bridge to that gap.
