Kelly for SLT is Certified!

Our campaign reached an important milestone this week, and I wanted to share the news. While we have been working on the campaign for a while now, the official filing period for candidates opened last week. We had to complete a number of important tasks, including the submission of a nomination form signed by South Lake Tahoe voters. I am happy to report that we have been certified by the City Clerk and I will be on the ballot in November!

You may have seen us around town in our official campaign vehicle – the Radio Flyer! This vehicle operates completely on clean energy.

I am so grateful to everyone that has helped us to date with donations, endorsements, and those that were willing to sign my nomination papers. Thank you everyone! I have been overwhelmed with the positive support for the campaign and the change that we want to bring to the City Council.

As I have been meeting with voters around town, there are a few things that I am hearing consistently. I heard a lot about the roads, that the city is making progress, but we need to do more. Fresh off the July 4 th weekend, I heard about how we must continue improving how we manage tourism. We need to minimize the wear and tear on the city and maximize the benefit of tourism to the City while promoting our small businesses at all times. Possibly most importantly, I heard a sense of pessimism resulting from the reputational damage that the Council has suffered these past few years. This is understandable and exactly why I decided to run for Council. If we can elect a Council with experience, professionalism, and integrity, I’m confident we can put all of this behind us quickly. I am fully committed to that goal.

Having said that, I want to emphasize how positive my conversations have been with all of you. I have thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new connections around town. I truly am inspired by the passion that the people of South Lake Tahoe have for the town. While we may not all agree on everything, we all agree that South Lake is a very special place and we all want to keep it that way!
